5 Practices for Work-Life Harmony

  1. Set realistic expectations for yourself - aka slow the fuck down

  2. Keep things in perspective - see stop mindf*cking yourself

  3. Prioritize your needs - in caregiving spaces this is known as filling your own cup first

  4. Don’t be a hero/martyr - no one is asking you to do this and if they are, get used to disappointing them. See point number 1.

  5. Use your words - whether it’s setting boundaries, establishing expectations, or asking for what you need, communicate with the people around you. You might be surprised to find how much space you can create in your day simply by establishing clear expectations. When you reliably deliver and communicate, people learn to trust you and you can release that pressure valve a bit.
