Who is Amanda Jane? *
Like you, I contain multitudes. At my core, I am a creative spirit who cares deeply about nurturing the best parts of being human.
Professionally speaking, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with two Master’s degrees from Columbia University. For 10 years I worked globally in family and community violence prevention (US, Honduras, Colombia, and Cameroon). After that I began facilitating trainings and consulting on practice management for mental health professionals in New Mexico.
The common thread in all the work I’ve done has been meeting people in their stories, learning to make sense of my own, and celebrating what makes us come alive:
Poetry and storytelling are the mediums I work with to explore the human experience, often addressing themes of love, death, pleasure, and pain.
I often pontificate about how we make meaning and the practicalities of existence across languages and cultures;
and I keep the torches lit for the seekers I send on quests of self discovery and creative transformation.

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go and do that, because the world needs people who have come alive.
— Howard Thurman
